FurniSquare has two compact wooden mandirs for the home: a traditional solid Sheesham design and a red MDF engineered-wood design with a white drawer. Both stand on their own base and are open at the front, with no doors. They sit within our living room furniture, and the sections below compare the two side by side.
The two designs suit different tastes. The Sheesham mandir is the more traditional of the pair. It has turned pillars, small railings along the platform, scalloped arches under the roof and five spire-style finials on top. The MDF mandir is plainer and brighter: a red finish, a white drawer and a pointed roof over a scalloped canopy.
If you want traditional wood detail, the Sheesham design is the closer match. If you want a bold color and simpler lines, look at the MDF design.
The Sheesham mandir is listed at 30 cm wide, 22 cm deep and 55 cm high. The MDF mandir is listed at 35 cm wide, 30 cm deep and 65 cm high, so it is the larger of the two. Measure the table, shelf or floor space you plan to use before you choose.
Both have an open front. The Sheesham mandir has an open platform with a railing and one shallow drawer in its base. The MDF mandir has one open shelf above a white drawer, which gives two open levels at the front. These are overall measurements, so they do not show the usable space inside. If your idols or other items are larger, check the space before ordering.
One mandir is listed in solid Sheesham wood and the other in MDF engineered wood. The Sheesham mandir has a visible wood-grain finish. MDF is an engineered board, and this design is finished in red and white. See each product page for the full specification.
What is the difference between a home temple, a mandir and a pooja mandir?
In everyday use they mean the same thing: a piece of furniture for keeping idols and puja items at home. Mandir is the Hindi word for temple, and pooja and puja are two spellings of the same word. The two designs here carry both spellings in their names.
What sizes are the wooden mandirs available in?
There are two designs, each in its listed size. The solid Sheesham mandir is 30 cm wide, 22 cm deep and 55 cm high. The MDF mandir is 35 cm wide, 30 cm deep and 65 cm high. These are overall measurements, not the space inside.
What materials are used in these two mandirs?
Solid Sheesham wood is listed for the traditional mandir, and MDF engineered wood for the red mandir with the white drawer. Each product page has the full specification.
Do the mandirs have drawers or shelves for puja items?
Both have a drawer in the base. The Sheesham mandir also has an open platform with a railing, and the MDF mandir has an open shelf above its drawer. Neither lists how much the drawer or shelf holds, so check your items against the dimensions.
